Zeldathon

Marathons I've attended:
Hope: December 2015 - January 2016
Cures: December 2016 - January 2017
Mission: December 2017 - January 2018

Zeldathon is a series of biannual video game charity marathons broadcasted on Twitch.tv where friends and family come together for 7 days and play every single game in the Legend of Zelda franchise while raising money for various charities. Viewers can watch at Zeldathon.net, interact with physical atendees by typing in the chat, and make a donation to the featured charity of the marathon. We've worked with several charity organizations such as Help Hope Live, Direct Relief, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and more. Every cent raised goes directly to go the charity; we don't see anything. Throughout these charity marathons are donation goals and incentives to encourage viewers to donate, such as additional game unlocks, fun side-events, goal wheels, scripted specials, and more hilarity. Our communal love for the beloved Nintendo franchise brings us together as friends from around the world.

I am a part of the 100-person team that participate in running the charity marathon. While each attendee presents an appealing personality on camera to thousands of watchers on the live stream, we each have our own particular tasks and duties that we take on.

Since Zeldathon usually runs for 7 days straight, attendees alternate so that there's always a group of energetic people present on the live stream. I help with maintaining production quality of the stream by manning "Tech Desk", which utilizes a live streaming program called XSplit to broadcast our marathon to the world. I also help with reading donation comments from donors over at the "Donation Station", making sure to communicate in a clear but unique way to entertain people at home. My main job, however, is to track and transcribe segments of events for later cataloging. I like to transcribe attendees' words into "quotes" so that their phrases are immortalized for all time at StreamQuotes.com.

Throughout all Zeldathons in the past decade we have raised over $1 million dollars for various charities.
